Issue has appeared in the last couple weeks..
if I take a picture, and click the thumbnail icon, I am taken to Google Messages, as if I want to share the image.
If I hit back a couple times, and try opening the thumbnail again, then all works as usual, and my gallery app is opened.
I have recently updated to Android 14 beta, which is the only thing I can think is going wrong.
Have tried clearing default app settings, clearing cache, etc, but cannot get rid of this problem.
Anyone have any similar issue or insight?
Thanks

I had this happen myself a few weeks ago, but then it fixed itself before I could see what was happening. Make sure Google Messages is updated - if so, is it still happening?

I am almost the same.
I'm using Pixel 6a.
I am using Storage Access Framework with it turned on.
The photos I took were saved in the Pixel6a/opencamera folder.
(Google Messages is up to date)
There was no problem until I updated to android 14.
This issue does not occur if you turn off Storage Access Framework.
I would like to save photos in a folder other than DCIM/...
Is there any solution?

I have a similiar anomaly. Pixel6a, Android 14, Open Camera 1.52, FossifyOrg Gallery App, using Storage Access Framework to save photos in DCIM/Camera.
When I open Open Camera and tap on the image icon, the photo is opened in the gallery app.
When I take a photo and tap on the image icon, a toast appears announcing "No gallery app available"
When I leave Open Camera to the home screen and then return to it, tapping on the image icon opens that last taken photo in the gallery app all right.

Thanks for the info, yes I can reproduce it again when using Storage Access Framework. Am testing a fix for the next version.
I appreciate your response.
I'm looking forward to the next version.
Thishappens to me too, and it drives me nuts. If there is a solution I'd be thrilled!
