We curate art online for men and women who are in prison (prisonartware.com). We get checks that go to a mailing agent and that agent scans to email...so we never have a physical copy of our checks.

We use the ingo app to cash our checks but it prompts the camera app on our device to take a picture of a check that we have in hand. That won't work.

What we need (I think) is a camera app that, when the shutter button is pressed, takes us to the phone's gallery where we can fetch the image in our gallery...the image downloaded from our mail service agent.

Of course the problem is that the "ingo" app developers haven't considered the scenerio of your transaction processing workflow. You could try (hah!) asking them to add the option to get the check image from the Gallery or Photos apps. An ugly workaround might be to display the image of your check on a computer screen, then take a photo of that. Ugh.
