As you can see in the screenshot that I took, the app is in landscape mode. I tried to change it in settings, but it didn't work.
The icons react to phone physical rotation (when I put the phone in portrait position), but not the app itself.
Can someone help me? Thanks.
The next version of Open Camera will support running in portrait and landscape orientations.
Just to give some explanation though: it's allowed on Android for applications to lock to a particular orientation, and this is something that several camera applications do. Traditionally on Android, (a) running fullscreen meant that none or little of the system UI could be seen, and (b) switching orientation was slow, which was undesirable for rotating the phone when using the camera.
Over the years, these have reversed: more and more of the system UI has seeped through and is visible even in full screen mode; meanwhile, improvements have meant it's now possible to achieve switching orientation quickly.
So that's why I've now changed to supporting portrait/landscape orientations, but also why it wasn't done this way in the past.

Im confused by the Open Camera orientation behaviour - i generally use my phone in portrait. I can open Open Camera and take portrait or landscape photos, but everytime i open the app settings, it automatically switches to showing the menus & settings in landscape (after a brief 1-2sec in 'conventio al' portrait orientation). It doesnt then matter how i orient my phone, the menus/settings remain fixed in landscape mode - its very difficult to work through menus & options in landscape and very annoying. How can this be fixed?

This does seem strange, the settings shouldn't be locked to landscape. I guess we can see if it's resolved by the next version of Open Camera (which won't ever lock the orientation).

Further to my post above about the Open Camera settings page always opening in Landscape mode: i've noticed in my Launcher (Nova Prime) if i long-press on the Open Camera icon, a menu pops up including a menu for App Settings (not the normal Android App settings with ForceStop, ClearCache etc). If i use the App Settings button in the popup menu, the Open Camera settings opens in Portrait mode - great! But still, if i use the 'gear wheel' button to open Settings from within Open Camera, the menu always opens in annoying Landscape mode!?
