I have had Open Camera for quite a while without problems. I have a Nokia 7+ phone
Today though it is not zooming in, while taking a picture / video
I can look at the screen, zoom in and all seems OK, but as soon as I hit the button to take a picture, or start a video the picture returns to the non-zoomed image.
I deleted the app and reinstalled it, but the problem remains.
Any ideas please ?

I have the same phone, and the same problem. Seems that restarting the phone temporarily fixes it. Oddly the same glitch happened with a build of GCam when I used the telephoto lens with that. That would hard crash the app and prevent any photos from being taken afterwards, though.
I read that the dev stated that Open Cam should "see" the telephoto and just switch to it on zoom, because I can't seem to find an option to toggle it on with a secondary lens button. Examining the zoomed images vs cropped unzoomed ones, I don't think this is happening. It might be the reason there's buggy behaviour going on in the background.

Thanks for your reply.
Although I still use Open Camera and have also downloaded the ProShot app and that seems to produce decent results.
As usual though, with 3rd party apps I can not zoom in as much as with the original Nokia camera app, but there's not even a lock exposure button on that app, which is annoying when filming videos .. that's why I first change to Open Camera
BTW .. Open camera is working OK now ... just as stated above, I can't zoom in as much as I could with the original Nokia camera app .. which is very .. an noy ing

Have you noticed that your Nokia Camera app has stopped seeing the telephoto lens for zoom too? The 2x zoom button seems to do nothing but digital now. The google play listing for it states it's no longer compatible with my device :/
If yours still works I'd turn off updates asap

if you open the play store, get to the home page of the app in question, there's three vertical dots in the top right. Under that menu there's "enable auto update", just toggle that off :)
