Hi, oops, yesterday I suddenly noticed my Flash of Open Camera (OC) ignored flashing when I needed suddely the Flash feature!?
Since when!? Don't know, Actually I make pic's most of the time w/o Flash, since the cam sensor is able to make pic's hardly w/o background light.
The 'torch' feature of OC still works fine if I tap on it, but all other Flash features (auto, red eyes, permanent flash) do not work anymore!?
I tried the default Nokia cam app, Flash seems working fine; but dislike the default HMD/Nokia Camera app;-)
Tried everything to solve Flash issue, like:
rebooting device, clearing cache and app data of OC, clean install of OC app, rebooting again, 'reset settings' viaSettings Manager OC, to restore OC to default settings.
I do not know what I can do else!? ISO settings!? Don't know where to change, but I'm sure the current settings is Auto-ISO.
This 'Nokia 7 Plus' run latest Android 10, and latest patch level; It's an Android One phone, so they get updates fast or very fast as soon released by Google.
I also own a 'Nokia 8.1', also running Android 10, and latest patch level. But no issues with Flash on this device, Flash feature works fine on my Nokia 8.1!?!?
I'm really desperate at the moment :-(

Same problem with Nokia 7.1 Android 10.
No flash, torch works.
Problem begins after upgrading from Android 9 to 10.

Meanwhile I performed a factory reset on the 'Nokia 7 Plus', since my dad now use the phone.
But it did not help, flash still not work at all !?
On my Nokia 8.1 flash is still working well!?

What is to change in code that Open Camera works with
Android SDK for Android 10 API-Level 29 runs ?

I am having a problem with the flash on a Pixel 3a (Android 10, 5th April 2020 patch level) OC 1.48.1 (1st May 2020) - the flash 'works' in terms of the bright light happening, but the resulting JPEG is very dark.
With flash off, it's fine. With flash on, it isn't. Flash is also working fine with the stock Google Camera app.
I've just opened a ticket here with a couple of example photos.
It was working on 10th March (the previous time I used the flash in OC...) so it's not obvious whether it's an OC change or a system software change.

It's always used Camera2 API and, yes, 'use alternative flash method' fixes it - i.e. is now necessary in a way that it wasn't with the earlier version of the OS or OC.
Thanks!
(I'd wonder if the photo was being taken at a different time to the flash, except that it wasn't working with flash in daylight either...)

Flash works with my modifications, optimized for Nokia ... Plus smartphones.
I added also the ability that photos are taken when tipped on screen.

Is this affected by the choice of Settings/"Camera API"?
And if this happens when using Camera2 API, does enabling Settings/Photo settings/"Use alternative flash method" fix it?
Edit: same question applies for any of the people having problem on this thread.
