I'll be looking at the new camera API in Android 5 soon, and I'll see if this is possible (manual shutter speed isn't possible with older Android versions).

I think Camera FV-5 does that on Android 4.4.4. Not sure how...

I think there are some workarounds for limited control on Android 4.x, true, though I'd rather focus on Android 5 support which apparently offers full control.

Thanks so much for the awesome camera! I use it daily to document experiments in my lab; the manual focus is a godsend. I see the app description lists manual exposure time as well, but I can't seem to find it. I can use manual focus and ISO selection just fine on my marshmallow nexus 6. Am I missing something?

For manual shutter speed, first enable Camera2 API under Settings. Then from the popup (three dots) menu you can switch to manual mode by choosing a non-auto ISO. Further control for ISO and shutter speed is then possible from the exposure icon on the main screen.
If any of these options aren't available, it's not supported by the device.

Found it, thanks for the information. So it looks like the longest exposure time you can set is about 1/4 sec, is that correct? Or am I missing something that would let me set a longer exposure time?

This varies by device, but whatever is shown is what the device supports. Only a few devices (like OnePlus) seem to support multi-second long exposures.

Manual mode has both shutter speed and ISO manually specified. It would be wonderful if we could manually specify/lock shutter speed, but let ISO automatically adjust to proper exposure. Alternatively, if I could adjust the preferred shutter speed selected in auto ISO mode.. Is this a possible feature?

I am using a Samsung Galaxy S7 (regular, not Edge). When I enable the Camera2 API option, I can adjust the shutter speed manually but at the same time my highest possible video resolution switches from 4K down to 3264x1836.
Is that normal?
A second question. Using the slider to set the shutter speed manually, I was only able to set it to either 50.4 or 49.5. But not exactly 50. Is it possible just to type in the shutter speed I want to use?
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
I am using a OnePlus 5 and the shutter speed slider can go up to 49.5 but the real final value (that's also displayed on the viewfinder) is 1/12s.
Any ideas?

i too have a 1+5 and have the same issue but i have noticed that if i set it to 49.4 sec (slider to max) the actual exposure is around 5 sec although the photo gets xifed with the slider value. to me this sugests that there is a scale factor within the code for the shutter speed which is not set correctly for the 1+. i will have a trawl through the source and see what jumps out when i have a bit more time
i have tried the FV-5 app and it performs the same, so posibly an undocumented feature

First of all huge thanks for your great app and all the hard work put in it!
Everything works perfectly, also the manual exposure and camera 2 api on my redmi 4 prime with lineageOS.
I do have one wish though similar to what someone els in this thread posted.
Please make it possible to set the manual shutter to direct values, like 48, 50, 60, 100, 120 - this would make it perfect for photography and eespecially filming.
That would be really great, maybe it is possible to add these as buttons below the respective slider or make the slider longer to input values more precisely.
Alternatively, if it is possible to change the slider to only full values (eg 24, 25, 26), insted of having .1 values (24.8, 27.3 etc)
Thanks a lot!

This is fixed in v1.44, the manual sliders now snap to more sensible "round" values.

Hello Mark.
As the others note, a huge thanks for this amazing app!
I just wanted to "bump" the anonymous above regarding manual shutter values. Currently on my S9+, I can only select 1/12 as the lowest shutter value. The internal camera can be set to 10 seconds. Would there be any chance of allowing us to adjust the shutter to longer values in the future?
Thanks.

On Samsung S10+, it still does not allow you to set the shutter speed longer than 1/10 of a second, even in DRO mode, regardless of the Samsung API or the camera2

Do you think it would be possible to add manual shutter speed like in Nokia pro cam app for windows phone? Would be amazing. Thank you.

Any news on a shutter speed setting? I can't find the setting on my Nexus 5X.

Amen, I have a LG G4 and the stock camera app offers manual exposure...but not an intervalometer.
For manual shutter speed, first enable Camera2 API under Settings. Then from the popup (three dots) menu you can switch to manual mode by choosing a non-auto ISO. Further control for ISO and shutter speed is then possible from the exposure icon on the main screen.

Where do i find camera2 api to enable onthe note 4 running android 6.0.1
The Note 4 predates the Camera2 API, so it's likely it doesn't have (non-legacy) support. If it's available, it'll be under Open Camera's settings.

The maximum exposure/shutter time on the slider is what the device's camera API says is the maximum supported exposure time.
same question , i'm on pixel 2 and it says shortest is 1/12s
It shows the same for me as well but the actual time it takes to take a photo is 4s (if it works that is)
Select DRO in photo settings, only then you can set shutter speed beyond 30 seconds.
On Samsung S10+, it still does not allow you to set the shutter speed longer than 1/10 of a second, even in DRO mode, regardless of the Samsung API or the camera2
