Is there any reason why Open Camera doesn't adjust shutter speeds in the pro/API 2 mode? It will let me set them to a max of 8.3s (which is fine) but when checking image data, the images are actually taken at 1/5s. ISO settings etc seem to hold true though, any ideas?
Main reason I'm asking as the Astro mode in the standard cam app on the P6 is brilliant, but I want some Geminid shots to play with. Astro mode often bins frames with decent meteor streaks in the final images!
I have no technical knowledge, is it an issue integrating with the new hardware?
Thanks
Jon

Just to clarify - does the manual shutter speed work when you set values faster than 1/5s?
And also test with values longer than 1/5s but shorter than 1s?

Hi Mark - yep, just checked and it does work correctly up to that 1/5 - Anything higher and it still takes the picture but then when checking the data, they're all at 1/5. ISO adjustment is fine. I did try a fair few other apps - the longest exposure I could get was 1/2 (this was where it stuck for any exposure longer than this - same max value as yours at 8.3s).

I'm confusing myself now! Basically 1/200, 1/600, 1/50 etc all work fine. 1/5 is the max length it'll expose so anything longer and it sticks to 1/5.
Thanks
Jon

I played around again last night and no apps I've tried are working with it.
Very annoying - auto Astro Mode is giving me 16s exposure's (single frame) in RAW. But ATM, there appears to be no way (inbuilt GCam or via TP apps) to shoot long manually.
I'm very surprised no one else seems to have reported this as an issue, I've trawled reddit/photography/smartphone forums etc)...
If anyone's got any suggestions that would be great!

I understand that your device do not allow for the Open Camera any longer exposure time than 1/2 seconds, in any 'Photo modes'. Have you tried if any of the 'Scene mode...' configuration options makes any effect to this? On Xiaomi Redmi Note 9T, aOS11, Open Camera lists 16 different 'Scene modes' such as: action, night, sunset, candlelight, steady photo, etc, (however it looks to me that they are completely inoperative in Xiaomi).
But manual exposure times that are available in different 'Photo modes' are as follows:
STD: 30s
NR: 2s
DRO: 30s
HDR: 0.5s
Pano: 30s (quite a along, considering the process)
Fast Burst: 0.5s
Exposure Bracketing: 0.5s
Focus Bracketing: 0.5s
A related issue, I'm really hoping for a 'Photo mode' that could be named as the "Auto ISO", where the photographer sets the exposure time manually, and that choice is overridden by Open Camera only under such illumination condition where that desired exposure time would not deliver a properly exposed shot.

I've tried all the auto modes, they all max at 1/5. Interestingly someone on Reddit has said they have the same issue on their Galaxy S20.
Not sure what the sensor is on that, but assume it might be related as the 6 has a GN1 Samsung sensor, whereas the older pixels used a Sony. It's very frustrating! Although I really wanted it for tonight for some long exposure night shots - the British weather has decided that's a no though anyway!

Hello, please explain what do you mean by "all the auto modes"?
Open Camera has at least:
auto exposure mode
auto focus mode
auto-level option
auto white balance option
With them it is not possible to inspect what the maximum exposure time in manual (exposure) mode is. Please do the following:
Tap the ⦋︙⦌ icon, the configuration dialog opens. On the second row from the top, you'll see the text "Photo Mode:" and below that are several options. Please select the "STD" option ("STD"stand for: standard).
Then please tap the ⦋∓⦌ icon, and the exposure mode configuration dialog opens. On the first row, the two leftmost items are "Auto" and "M", now tap the third item from the left, it likely is "50". Now Open Camera is in Manual ISO 50 mode. Then slide the dot that is on the third row (this row has an alarm clock icon on the left-hand side) all the way to the right. Now Open Camera shows the maximum exposure time.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.
The issue is I can set whatever exposure I want in manual mode (well up to a max of 8.3s). ISO remains adjustable as well - the problems is, it's not exposing for longer than 1/5s if I select any longer exposure.
Below that, manually setting 1/50, 1/200, 1/500 (for example) all work fine. But longer than 1/5s and when checking the image data (and watching how quickly it captures) the longest it will expose is 1/5s.
ISO controls hold to whatever I set them at. It's very frustrating and it's not just Open Camera it's happening with. So far I haven't found a single TP app that takes photos longer than 1/2s, despite manually setting up for 4 - 5 - 6 second exposures.
It's very odd! I was hoping today's big Pixel 6 software update might have fixed it, but I've uninstalled and re-installed Open Camera and it still maxes at 1/5s. The app doesn't seem to be aware though, in app it's saying whatever exposure I set, but that's not what the image is exposing at.
I can post some screen shots if needed.

*It's only when going into gallery and checking the image details you can see it's maxing out, the app's don't appear to be aware if that makes any sense!

ran through 10 images in each app -
Footej 2, ProCam X, HD Camera... Max exposure on each one was 1/12 when checked in gallery (when set to max on the apps - 8.3s on the whole). Aside from one total anomaly (I think Pro Cam but will double check) - exposed at 4.29 seconds - and I don't think this was dodgy result as it's massively overexposed, as would be expected. All of the other images from that app, with the same settings, reported 1/12... Very confused! I have even tried adjusting the light levels in case for some reason it's reverting to some auto setting - no difference.

Im experiencing the same issue, that the manually set exposure does not apply for more than 1/5s.
Has anybody found a solution yet?

I'm the OP, haven't found any workarounds yet. TBH, the weirdest thing for me is you're the only other person that seems to have noticed! If anyones got any ideas, would be appreciated. I'll keep trying various apps intermittently and report back if anything changes, if you could do the same would be good :)
