I was thrilled to find Open Camera, which allows so much more customization than my phone's original, very limited camera app. However, when I take a photo using Open Camera, when I press the "photo" button, the preview image freezes up for 2-3 seconds, and then the photo is taken (after the 2-3 second delay). After the photo is taken the frozen preview image returns to a "live" camera view. The combination of the delay, and the fact that the camera view image is "frozen" for such a long time, makes any kind of action shot impossible.
Is this expected behavior on a low-end phone? I have a very basic LG Phoenix 2, running Marshmallow. When I use the (crappy) original camera app, there is virtually no delay or lag, and the camera image doesn't freeze up.

Same here. I cannot take good pictures of my cats. Pressing the button, but photo is taken a second later.

Likely the camera is focusing, depends on the Focus mode that is active in OC. Try to first do a tap to perform focusing, then take the photo, or use another focusing mode.

On a maze 20x btw after reset camera app. My guts say it is due to sd access. Maybe cam should put picture to RAM first.

change settings to: API 2 (dig around, you'll find it) and set focus to mf (manual focus) or infinity. This will reduce that painfully long display to just about a second.

Still works. Thank You.
Thank you very much. After changing the focusing method, I improved the speed of taking each photo from about 1s to about 0.3-0.5s.
