I am also seeing an unusual action. When I point the camera to compose a shot, the whole screen goes black for maybe 2 seconds, then returns and shows the scene I am trying to capture.
Can you review the app on Android 14?

Hi, I'm not sure why this is I'm afraid, but I don't think it's a general Android 14 issue - I'm running it okay with Android 14.

I just tested it at home. It seems to occur when I unlock the phone. As long as I don't lock it, no problem. So the problem exhibits only at app startup or phone unlock with the app running in the background.
Is there a developer log that would show what is occurring? Because it is annoying!

More info - It seems to happen whenever I point the phone at something, so something to do with setting focus?
If I open the phone with OC running and then zoom in before pointing the phone, I will lose that zoom in when the screen goes black and have to re-zoom in.

So you don't have any idea at all why this problem is happening or any idea how to debug the problem?

I use the option to take pictures in a series without a limit every 1 second. And OC versions from 1.50 and up do not take a picture every 1 second. Sometimes they take every 1 second sometimes the interval is 2, 3 or even 4 seconds. And it is repetitive and not random.
1-1-3-1-1-3-1-1-1-3-1-1-3-1-1-3...
And I noticed this on Android 10,11,12,13.
When I use older versions the pictures are almost always taken every 1 second unless the smartphone is shaking badly.
And on Android 6 there is no such problem and photos fly literally every second on all OC versions.

Yes, OC has always been fairly slow to focus and to process a photo after taking it.

Running Android 14 on a Pixel 5a.
OC is proving to be slower than ever!
