Pixel 3 + 1080p + Camera2 enabled + 120fps = crash. Known issue?

Can't say if it's a general issue with Camera2 enabled but I believe more specifically the app is crashing when trying to shoot 120fps in 1080p, which the Pixel 3 is capable of. Essentially I start getting artifacts, glitches and then the whole screen goes pixelated.
i have a oneplus 6t which in theory should also be able to record 120fps but it also crashes when using this app. also a mix 2s which has native 120fps but i wanted more control for focus and other things. still crashes when using this app.
