This morning, I discovered my phone accelerometer no longer works correctly, reading a large acceleration in one direction continuously. This causes the screen rotation to no longer function properly either, which isn't a big deal since I force portrait mode most of the time.
However, Open Camera is stuck in upside-down portrait mode, possibly the least useful orientation. Since it detects the orientation by itself and not through Android's screen orientation, forcing a specific orientation through an app has no effect, naturally. Even using the "lock orientation" setting seems to do nothing; setting it to "lock landscape" doesn't change the broken orientation. So I'm basically forced to either rotate all my media in post, or use the stock camera app, which follows the Android screen orientation.
I would appreciate a setting to change the orientation from the camera UI itself. A way to override the phone's reading and add a button in the column that cycles through the different orientations would be perfect! It would make sense as a toggle in the settings since most phones have working accelerometers, of course.
For the record, I have a Nexus 6 running Android 7.1 (specifically, LineageOS 14.1).
Thanks so much for this wonderful camera app, by the way! It has so many great features, and I can't imagine living without it—just the level of control it enables is so good. I really appreciate all the work you've done on it :) Hope you can reply soon!

I have the same trouble. accelerometer defect on 800 usd phone. Forces me to reincoad all videos if I want them in landscape mode which possibly occurs a quality loss and also a lot of time.

I would love a landscape forced mode

Does Settings/More camera control/"Lock photo/video orientation" help?
