    Hi,

I have a Google Pixel 4a 5g and downloaded Open Camera yesterday evening. Seems like pixels don't play nice and allow me to use the "double tap to open camera" feature with any camera except the default. However, it also seems like the setting "Show camera when locked" isn't working for me either. I activate it and lock my phone (and have also tried restarting) but can't seem to access Open Camera at all from the lock screen.

Has this happened to anyone else? And if so, any tips on how to fix this?

    Thanks!

can't seem to access Open Camera at all from the lock screen.

      So, partially you can?

On my Android 11 device the camera icon on the lock screen, at the lower right corner, opens the stock camera (when the icon is swiped upwards). Only the stock camera, this is unchangeable. On my Android 7 device I can change the preference so that Open Camera is launched. So, it depends on the make and/or model of the device and/or the OS version. Such inconsistencies are so typical for the Android gadget line.

To change the preference, go to Apps/Info, there go one-by-one into the settings of each camera app, and clear the item "Open by default" from them all. Then, exit and lock the screen, then make the lock screen visible, and swipe the camera icon. If you are lucky you will be delighted with the "open by default" -dialog that allow you to choose what app to use "always". If not, it is hardcoded.
