"Failed to record video" when using scene mode - Android 4.4.2

I absolutely love Open Camera and am very thankful for the developers.
There is one problem I have; the camera records perfectly when I am in auto scene mode, but shows "failed to record video" anytime I use another scene mode. This happens at every resolution I try to use.
I am using Android 4.4.2 and Open Camera v1.38.1. I am recording to the internal phone memory. I reinstalled the app but that did not work.
Is it somehow possible for me to record in non-auto scene mode?

I have an older Lenovo Tablet, and encountered the same problem. Then I remembered that I had switched the MP4 type to mpeg4 hvec. When I switched back to the mpeg4 h264 format, the problem seems to be resolved.
