Hi Mark,
Hats off to you for making this brilliant app open source! Very generous of you.
I'm using a OnePlus One running on CyanogenMod 12.1. I'm loving the picture quality when on the app, bright and vibrant. But when I view it on the gallery the photo looks the same as the one you would take with the in-built camera (dull-er and boring).
Why is this happening?

This is probably that Open Camera runs in full brightness. To confirm, either switch this off in Open Camera (Settings/On screen GUI/Force maximum brightness) or set your phone to maximum brightness. If so, it isn't really any difference in the pictures, just that it looks nicer when at full brightness.

I'm having what I think is a slightly different problem with the Gallery in Open Camera. My phone is an LG L33L (Android 5.0.1). I have an external SD card, and Open Camera stores my photos there.
When I take a picture, the brief photo 'freeze' on the phone itself seems to provide a true representation of the colors, as well as areas that are light, and those that are dark. And when I open the resultant .jpg image file, it looks identical to the photo 'freeze'.
Yet when I preview by clicking your Gallery icon, what I see is a VERY dark photo--as if I was taking the picture in a very dark area, with no flash.
I have tried taking the photo with more or less exposure, manual flash, no flash, auto flash, different film speeds, flashlight on or off, etc. The results are always the same. The photo 'freeze' on the phone and the resultant .jpg file look identical, but the Gallery image is very dark.
What might be causing this problem, and is there a way to fix it? I checked your excellent tutorial and FAQ, but I could not find anything that addresses this problem.
As it is, I find it almost impossible to determine if I need to take the photo again with different settings.
Thanks,
Harry

The gallery icon just launches whatever is registered as the default gallery device on your phone, so should be outside the control of Open Camera. When you say "when I open the resultant .jpg image file", is that still using the same gallery app, or a different method to view the images?
It might be the screen brightness thing again (see above), or something else about the way the gallery app is displaying the images...

Mark:
Today it all seems to be working just fine. Just a mystery of apps, I guess.
To answer your question, I was opening the resultant .jpg file using X-plore, a kind of Windows Explorer for the Android phone.
