For me the current icon as well as the arrangement are both very good and nice.
Pertinent to the subject, the Xiaomi "AI camera" has interesting (optional) feature with the title: "Tap to focus, then again to take a photo". When it is enabled, the tap indicator (a square) is first displayed clearly while the camera is seeking the focus (similarly as in Open Camera) and then the square gets partly transparent, but still stays visible until the next tap. If the next tap is inside the square then a picture is taken, if the tap happens outside the square then the camera does the exposure/focus according to that part of the preview. So, it is similar to the Open Camera feature with the title "Touch to capture", but one can see the expo/focus and then choose to take or not to take the photo.
