Could you please consider making it so that Open Camera registers itself as a sink for XML files, in such way that when Open Camera recognizes the XML file to be a valid Open Camera XML, then Open Camera would open up and would immediately do the 'Restore settings' operation according to that XML?
There is in the 'Total Commander for Android' app, the ability to create desktop icons: Long-tap on any kind of file and select from the popup: 'Create link on desktop'. In the dialog that opens it is possible to assign a receiving app for that file, but only in case the app has announced, to the OS, its willingness to deal with such files.
The above together would allow as many as needed, easy, and rapid to use, startup configurations for Open Camera. It would also make using the Open Camera less error prone, when the photographer can open Open Camera into known configuration(s) that (s)he has created using the 'Save settings' operations.

In case the suggestion in my opening post is out of the question, then could it be possible to have a much quicker path to reach into the ''Restore Settings' dialog? It is so deep down there:
Tap ☸ to open Settings of Open Camera
Slide the list upwards, all the way to the very bottom
Tap ☸ to open 'Settings Manager'
Tap 'Restore Settings'
Tap 'OK' to get rid of the '⚠ Restore settings' warning dialog
Only now the list of config XML files is displayed
.
I believe many users are doing the same as I, having many presets/configurations saved as XML files. I have e.g. ActionCam, DashVideo, Document-A4, Macro-1F, Macro-64F, and such. Very helpful because one knows for sure that Open Camera is fully and perfectly configured for the particular task, as soon as the particular XML is loaded. Some easily available methods could be a long-tap on the Settings of Open Camera [☸] icon or a long-tap on the Options [︙] icon.

Hello,
I'm doing something similar to you
I need to have opencamera be in a very specific condition
And I am wondering if you have a figured out a way to do this ?
In my case I have a "clean viewfinder" in two variations for different streaming screen, "" 720p240fps "1080p60" and "4k30"
And I need to flip the cameras, sometimes I use the rear, sometimes I use a USB 360 camera.
I would love to also be able to set the focus/white balance/iso/aperture remotely, even if that means killing and restarting the app using adb over wifi
