I love that we can easily change the modes of the flash within Open Camera, but a UX I got really accustomed to on my Lumia was the ability to use the Flash to assist with Auto-focus in dim/difficult situations, independent of whether or not the flash for photos was set to Auto/Enabled/Disabled.

Pretty much, yeah. It would defer to the user's setting for flash for the actual photograph, but would turn on during focusing depending upon scene brightness.

Just to clarify - so the torch would come on when touching the screen to focus, but not come on at all when taking a photo?
