All of the external microphones I've tested result in a very gainy audio track.
Including USB microphones too, which do not depend on analog audio input.
I've already tested with several custom roms and the audio track is always overloaded.
Of course, if the microphone is distanced there will be no overload, but this way the recording will have a lot of echoes and reverberations.
Would it be possible to include an external microphone gain control in the app interface?
Maybe with a peak meter?
Or if anyone knows how to solve this overload problem, I would be very grateful.

Thumbs up for this request. I'm very happy I can use an external 3.5 mm mic with Open Camera (unlike in the native camera app on my Sony Xperia 5 II) but yeah, I've got the exact same problem when recording vlogs while riding my bicycle. The recording is extremely gainy and I need to talk very silently to not overload it. Then it does work fine, but that gain adjustment would be extremely helpful, thanks!
