Hi,
I’m writing to suggest a possible enhancement to exposure bracketing
feature that could further empower users in capturing more dynamic photos.
Suggested Enhancement to Exposure Bracketing:
Currently, exposure bracketing is somewhat useful for achieving dynamic
range. However, I believe it can be expanded by introducing a mode that
progressively captures images at varying shutter speeds with a specific
flow:
Here's the sequence: The camera starts by taking a photo at a 1-second
shutter speed. Then it halves the exposure time for each subsequent shot
(e.g., 1 second → 1/2 → 1/4 → 1/8, and so on) until it reaches 1/1000th of
a second. After capturing the 1/1000th shutter speed photo, the bracketing
would continue, but the shutter speeds would decrease progressively by
thousandths (1/1000 → 1/2000 → 1/3000 → 1/4000, etc.) until the camera
reaches its minimum possible exposure time.
This would allow for capturing photos with wide range of exposure while
ensuring a automatic smooth transition in shutter speed control rather than
manually achieving this by hand or tripod which introduces shakes in photos
or subjects in frame move too much and obviously it's time consuming when
adjusting manually. The gradual progression from 1 second to the shortest
possible exposure would provide a more comprehensive set of exposures,
extremely great for HDR blending or other post-processing needs.
I believe this addition could greatly enrich the bracketing capabilities of
Open Camera, benefiting both casual users and photography enthusiasts.
