First a big thank-you to mark-h for creating and maintaining the Open Camera. It's alrady very close to perfect. On my phone (Blackvew BV 9500) I don't have a Camera button, but I do have a conveniently placed "Application Button" that sends a KEYCODE_THUMBS_UP (=286) when pressed. I added the key event handler to the source and rebuilt the apk. The button now works for taking a picture, which brings the app even closer to perfect. It would be nice, though, if this could be done by assigning shutter-release to any HW key in the app UI without having to edit the source and recompile.
