    Hi,

First, thank you for your app !
I would like to suggest a change behaviour regarding geotagging data options.
There are two options about geotagging :

1 - Add goetagging data to pictures
2 - Geotagging data is mandatory to take picture.

If option 2 is activated, you cannot take picture and a message is displayed. So far so good, and logical.
My suggestion is to allow to bypass this deny and allow to take picture anyway WITHOUT disabling the option (display just a warning message, or some message to ack).

    -=-

The idea behind this is the following scenario : I came back from journey and notice a lot of pictures have geotagging data missing. I guess this occurs when I take a picture to quickly and camera had no time to acquire the geotagging data.
So the second option looks good to me, is'n it ? But when I am in a building, then picture will be denied. And then I will have to deactivate option. And I may forget to reactivate it when I am out again...
This is why being able to bypass the "mandatory geotaaging data" would be perfect to me : most of my pictures are taken outside, but then I would be able to take some picture inside without deactivatig that "default" option.

Don't really know it that makes sense, but at least to me !

    Best regards,
    Pascal

Hi, it seems to me that this has been there for a long time:

      1. Enable 'Store location data'
      2. Disable 'Require location data'

So, you get the photo always, with geotagging metadata if GPS has a lock. Also, you can set 'Show store location icon' enabled in the 'On screen GUI..." configuration so it is visible in the GUI, it will be red when geotagging is enabled and white if not enabled, a tap on it changes the state.

    Well not exactly.
The idea is to have 'Require location data' enabled (aka for outside pictures) but being able to take pictures anyway (inside pictures) without having to disable the option (only a warning about missing geodata).
-> Because I may forget to re-enable it.
-> Because geotagging outside pictures is the most important to me.

The icon is interesting but not really helpful in my scenario (geotagging is always enabled), unless it tells if geodata has been acquired or not : i.e. blank : not enabled / red : enabled but not acquired / green : enabled and acquired.

      Hi again,

When you configure, in the 'Location settings ...':

      A) 'Store location data' enabled

      and

      B) 'Require location data' disabled

      Then,

      - for the"inside photos" (GPS data is not available) you get photos anyway , without GPS data.

      • for the "outside photos" (GPS data is available) you get photos anyway, with GPS data.

How is the above not what you are looking for? You will never miss a photo, and GPS data is stored when it is available.

In addition, you seem to have a need to be informed if GPS data is not available, Android OS shows if GPS location is available or not, as an icon-button, in the "Notification shade". IMO, even that is quite pointless for shooting photos, as generally we prefer to get the photos.

I have the 'Location' icon-button configured to be visible in the GUI, since I do not always want to share the location data, so I have the quick access to enable/disable it. Even if that button is set to be not visible, the Open Camera shows if 'Store location data' is enabled or not, under the clock & other info there.

      All the best,
      Just an other user
