Apparently with the Pixel 8 series google is removing support for photospheres in the camera app. It would be nice to have the functionality added to this app, since I just think they're so cool. I understand that it would probably be a complicated process, and possibly not doable at all given all the stuff that may need to be added for it to work. I just hate the idea of forever losing access to this feature cause google decided it wasn't worth their time.

(i had used the email frature to try to add this suggestion first. i apologize if that causes issues or if this shows up twice.)

That's interesting news about Google removing support for it. Maybe one day I'll get to it in Open Camera, although as you note it is quite a lot of work so I'm afraid won't be something I get to in the near future.

Forgive me for not registering but I just wanted to voice support for this as well. The old Focal app looks like it had support for Photosphere so maybe some of the logic could be lifted from there. I'm way out of my depth so forgive me.

    Hello,
I concur. Google also stopped the street view application, removing the last way to do photospheres on Samsung (and other non pixel phones?). We can still do hugin on the pc but the application was of great help to take the photos (using the gyro, orientation, etc).
People may resort to older more or less safe apk of the camera app but I find it is a pity.
So yes, it would be a great to have it in an open source application !
    Thanks for your application.
    Philippe
