this is the only thing that i don't like about open camera. whenever i double click the power button to quickly open the camera from the lock screen i just get a grey screen for a few seconds until it returns me to the lock screen.

Does enabling Settings/More camera controls/"Show camera when locked" help?

I have tried enabling the setting, but can't access the camera from the lockscreen and it asks or my phone PIN. After opening with PIN it shows a generic image icon for the previously taken picture as if the phone is locked. I'm assuming this is what it's supposed to show if the camera opened while phone is locked without asking the passcode. But asking for PIN to open the camera itself completely renders the feature useless.
I'm using Android 11 on Samsung Galaxy.

That works for me, with OpenCamera as default camera activity app, perfect. Didn't expect this setting to be in the app itself. Thanks for working on this great camera app.

Is there no way to do this without root now that you can no longer set a default app for camera activity in Android?
