I am active in the 3D photography and there is a big need for an app on smartphones that is able to capture synchronized images of 2 or more camera's. preferably through USB and maybe later Wifi or bleutooth. I know there is a multi camera library app . Currently I cannot program for Android. But I wonder if Open Camera is a good start as platform to start building this new app.
The idea is to have an external USB hub that allows 2 or more USB camera's to be connected (more camera's for lenticulars). The app should be able to release both camera's.. Synchronisation is a chalange and often not guaranteed. But it is a start. And I know there are several USB camera's able to have a synchronize feature. There are a lot more questions and features that can be implemented but for now it is important to have the basic functionality implemented. I would invest time to learn to program for Android but I need volenteers to help as it might be complicated.
The image I post is a very conceptual desing of a smartphone with 2 small USB stick camera's connected to a USB hub with also an Arduino controller for external release control and even lens separation adjustment by a tiny linear stepper motor.

This is a good UVC USB software for dual cameras:

Thanks for the link! It is a goot start point. I wonder if it is open source. I will send this person a message to see.
