Version 1.51.1 is released!
New option Settings/Photo settings/"Remove device EXIF data" to remove device metadata from JPEG photos. You can optionally choose to keep metadata related to date and time. Note that other Open Camera settings (e.g., enabling geotagging) will override this option and will still be applied.
New option Settings/Photo settings/"HDR tonemapping" to choose tonemapping algorithm used for HDR photo mode.
Improvement to HDR algorithm for dark scenes.
Camera2 extension X-Night mode now adds "_Night" to filename.
Various bug fixes: Gallery thumbnail had incorrect orientation on some Android 10+ devices. Focus bracketing images came out underexposed on some devices since version 1.50. Fix for location EXIF information for Camera2 API on some devices (e.g., Pixel 6 Pro). For Camera2 API, incorrectly showed red eye flash even when not supported by the device. Improvement for slow focusing for Camera2 API.
Zoom UI improvements for Camera2 API: Made it easier to zoom to 1x zoom using seekbar on devices that can zoom out to ultra-wide camera. Also made the zoom seekbar snap to powers of two.
The volume key down now supports pause/resume video on Android 7+ when recording video, if the option for volume keys is set to "Take photo (or start/stop video recording)".
Open Camera now defaults to Camera2 API for some devices. This will only take affect for new installs or if resetting settings (but you can always manually switch the camera API used under Settings, if supported by your device).
Similarly, Open Camera now defaults to flash off instead of flash auto. With improvements to phone cameras for low light situations, using a flash is increasingly less useful, and this default behaviour seems in line with other camera applications.
Various other UI improvements and bug fixes.

The answer is no.
It doesn't I'm afraid - although something did change in 1.50 related to taking HDR photos, this was fixing a clear bug (so can't just revert that), and unfortunately I don't have any devices that reproduce this problem.
Is it possible to reduce the size of the GUI icons?

What device is this? (Just curious what sort physical size of the display we're looking at here, along with resolution.)
The icon sizes are specified by what Android calls "dp", making them smaller risks warnings about being too small for accessibility. The only general way to change them would be through your devices Settings (e.g. "Display size and text") although obviously that affects everything.
It is a Moto One 5G Ace
Running 'droid 11
There is a flaw in the app when using Camera2API.
When shooting in a setting that adds location information, location information is recorded that is different from the shooting location.
I installed and tried the latest version of the app on some different equipment (Andloid version), but this flaw was not resolved.
This is such a great release. HDR with the ACES algorithm makes the images look more natural. It is even quite good for photos in dark scenes. sometimes even better than the NR mode.

I've switched to the Camera2API, but I still can't get to use the ultrawide lens on my phone.
I have a Motorola Razr 2022 foldable, running Android 12.
I have the on-screen zoom slider, and the volume buttons configured for zooming, but neither will take me down from zoom level 1 to zoom level 0.5, which is the wide angle lens. Neither will pinching the screen do it.
If I use the built-in camera app, it zooms down to 0.5 without any problems though. I can do it by pinching the screen, or pressing a '0.5' screen icon.

Try a restart of the phone if you haven't ready, then try other camera apps e.g. the original camera? If that isn't working, I'm afraid I'm not able to help with general device issues.
