Open Camera 1.45.2

Open Camera 1.45.2 is released!

This features improvements to the user-interface:

  • A new GUI layout (Settings/On screen GUI/UI placement/"Icons along top"), which arranges the on-screen icons along the top of the screen in portrait, or left of the screen in landscape.
  • New options under Settings/On screen GUI/ to enable on-screen icons for enabling face detection, auto-level, photo stamp, custom text stamp and white balance lock. Also the exposure lock icon is now optional.
  • On-screen icons are no longer quite so small.

Other new features:

  • "Low light" mode for Noise Reduction photo mode (when in NR photo mode, a new "NR Mode" option will appear on the popup menu). If Open Camera detects poor light in low light mode, it will take a burst of images for a duration of around 5 seconds. For best results, use a tripod, or try to hold the camera as steady as possible.
  • Various improvements to Noise Reduction photo mode.
  • Improvements to HDR and DRO algorithms to avoid increasing noise in darker scenes. For HDR you can also disable the contrast enhancement altogether (see Settings/Photo settings/"HDR contrast enhancement").
  • Continuous burst mode: holding down shutter button in standard or fast burst photo modes will now enable a continuous burst. (Camera2 API only.)
  • Focus assist option (Settings/On screen GUI/"Focus assist"), allows auto-zooming when adjusting manual focus distance.
  • Support for different photo image formats (Settings/Photo settings/"Image format"): WebP, PNG.
  • Support for different video file formats (Settings/Video settings/"Video format"): H264, HEVC, 3GPP, WebM (WebM is without audio support).
  • New options to save and restore all settings to a file (see Settings/"Settings manager").
  • "Say cheese" voice control now remains on.
  • Camera2 mode now allowed on more devices (devices now require at least one camera with at least "LIMITED" support).

Along with bug fixes and other improvements. See history for a full changelog.

Great update thanks! I have tried the update with my Samsung S8. I have recorded a couple of images in Continuous focus mode and when I have seen the videos in my galllery, the shots appear with a jellied effect. Do you have any idea why this could be?
    Thank you.

Not a big fan of "On-screen icons are no longer quite so small."; looks comical, occupying significant portion of screen. .
Everything looks way too big now. At leasst 2x as big as the standard Home//Back/Option (triagnel/circle/square) android buttons.

Add option for icon size ?

    Thanks for another great update!

It would be a nice bonus if Camera2 API worked with Huawei P20 Pro/P30 Pro devices so it was possible to shoot RAW. It only shoots JPEG and PNG at the moment.

If the API is open enough on Huawei devices it would be great if you could enable the other cameras such as the 16mm ultrawide angle and the 125mm tele lens. But that might be a bit much to ask for. :)

These are device limitations I'm afraid. Open Camera suports RAW and multiple front/rear cameras when the device supports it, some devices don't allow access for third party applications.

Is your app is supporting 64 bit architecture? I am using your app in my project as a module. While uploading apk to google play it is giving me error. saying that " App Bundle contains 32-bit RenderScript bitcode file (.bc) which disables 64-bit support in Android. 64-bit native libraries won't be included in generated APKs." Please help me . my build got stopped.

Have replied by email, but for anyone else wondering: The fix is to change renderscriptTargetApi in build.gradle to 21 (or higher).

(I'm glad Google have finally updated the message, previously it just claimed the APK had 64-bit native code without mentioning renderscript.)
