Version 1.28 is now released[1]. Improvements include:
Fixed a bug when using Storage Access Framework and SD cards, where images only showed up in the gallery etc after a reboot.
Fixed a bug in 1.27 where pre-Android 6 devices had trouble getting a location fix[2].
If Open Camera is running when the screen is locked, thumbnails of existing photos won't be shown. So if you're wondering why this changed, this isn't a bug, it's a security feature.
New options to take photos by audio control - either making a loud noice, or voice recognition (saying "cheese"). Potentially useful for selfie sticks...
Video recording now restarts automatically when hitting the device's maximum filesize. All devices seem to have an inherent file limit (usually around 2GB), which with 4K recording you can hit surprisingly soon. Restarting means you'll still lose a second or two, but this saves you having to watch to restart the video manually. (If you don't want auto restart, you can turn off the option.) There's also an option to set a specific maximum filesize.
New translations: Belarusian (thanks to Zmicer Turok), Czech (thanks to Jaroslav Svoboda), Japanese translation (thanks to Mitsuse), Turkish translation (thanks to Serdar Erkoc).
Some minor UI improvements.
[1] Technically version 1.28.1 - this fixed a Czech-only bug in 1.28. Thanks to staged rollouts, most people wouldn't have seen this dodgy version.
[2] This seems to be due to a bug in Android's ContextCompat.checkSelfPermission(), which is needed to test whether permissions have been disabled for Android 6. On older Android versions it's meant to always return enabled - but on my Galaxy Nexus (Android 4.3) and Nexus 7 2013 (5.1.1) this returns PERMISSION_DENIED for ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION, even though it works fine (and indeed there shouldn't be any way to deny the permission on those Android versions).
