Sure, But the alternative is not to make the call at all. That's the point. This way it refuses to take the cakks from fake base stations that are trying to trick you. And also, you need a free software baseband. things like openmoko / nokia maemo / android are only about the application processor and have no control on the baseband that run the actual GSM stack. The GSm code could be designed to let the application processor get the information and control this. I will look at the article you mentioned. Overall this reinforces my decision not to have a mobile phone. |
