Michael,

I have seen this behavior on other (non-openBTS) systems with some different phone models (definelty not with IPhones since I have never tested with one of those).  Anyways, after looking into the specs a bit, I determined that the best way to get around this problem is to just ignore the message.  The phone is not expecting a response to it, since it is just telling the network that it does not have a GPRS connection anymore.

Hope this helps,
Ben

Seems that L3 msg "RR GPRS Suspension Request" is still not implemented.

According to GSM0408 Spec:

When a mobile station which is IMSI attached for GPRS services (clause
4) enters the dedicated mode, and when the mobile station limitations
make it unable to handle both dedicated mode and either packet idle mode
or packet transfer mode simultaneously, the mobile station shall perform
the GPRS suspension procedure.

It seems that the mobile was attached to GPRS prior the cell change to
the openBTS, so it emits such message. This might be a device dependent
behaviour.

Best Regards,
Michael
