Ashraf -

You are running a Nokia 3310 in the GSM900 band.  We do that all of the time with no problems, at least no registration/camping problems.  In your case though, the phone is not even attempting to register.  That may not mean anything, tough, since the long is only 40 seconds long and the first registration may take longer than that.  The logs look normal, though, other than the lack of handset activity.

What country are you operating in? What is normal cellular coverage like at your site?  From what carriers?  What SIM are you using?  Is Asterisk running?  Does the handset show service with a normal carrier?

Also:

* You might get better results using MCC=001 and MNC=01.
* If you still have the SAW filter installed on your board, you might try ARFCN 975, since that downlink frequency actually falls inside the US ISM-900 band and should pass through the filter.
* Be sure the RX900 cards are well-seated on the daughter card.

Are you saying that you see no output on the spectrum analyzer?

Dear David,

I have installed GNU Radio 3.1.2 and the code " OpenBTS-1.6NewIberia" was compiled without any error. But the problem is the code seems working " ./transceiver and /OpenBTS " however my mobile " DCT-3  .. Nokia 3310" can't detect new GSM network.

  • I bought USRP, antenna VERT900 and 2 daughterboards RFX 900 " without cutting FIL1 or putting a capacitor " however i tried to use usrp_siggen.py and usrp_fft.py to make sure that daughterboards can send and receive above or below ISM band.
  • My laptop is Dell inspiron 1525 with processor 2 GHz and 3 G RAM
I have also used a spectrum analyzer on the lab to detect any kind of activity on the specified ARFCN that is on the openbts config but in vain .

attached the output from transceiver and OpenBTS.

Many Thanks for your continous help
Best Regards,
Ashraf

This looks like the GNU Radio 3.1/3.2 difference.  Current OpenBTS works with GNU Radio 3.1.  Now that 3.2 is actually released, we should probably update our code as well.

Dear David,

Thanks so much for your speedy reply. i have read about the court order since it was written in sourcefrog website. by the way i listened to all interviews conducted with you mp3 on the web :)

i faced a problem while compiling this version attached the log of error. so i replaced 2 files from the last version of OpenBTS "attached" into /Transceiver and it works fine!     is it right to do so?
i started /OpenBTS simultaneously wtih /tests/TRXSimulator without error :D, but still didn't test the code with USRP.

Ashraf
