Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

I'm sorry if this question has been posted. Try googling for: email spam "challenge response" There are quite a few providers of such services. There are also client versions that you can install on your computer. I cant vouch for their effectiveness, interoperability or user-friendly operation however. Regards, Gavin Stewart. |

(What does it show for this transaction?) I suspect the problem is with your modified sendmail configuration for delivery into imap. It should NOT be configured to accept mail for the do= main "test.com", as it will try to pass delivery onto the local mailer for err= ors and bouces, etc. i.e. "test.com" should NOT be in the access table for /etc/mail/ gavin. |

Hi Gavin !!! I have a problem to send a email to another openbottle protected email on the same server. There is a problem sending the Verification Requestto another Openbottle User. I think it is a problem with the local delivery. To send the mail as mailer would be user local (´mailer=local). If the user is whitelisted (manuel) the mail delivery works. Do you know what the problem can be. I send the emails from the webmail. I get the following log messages: May 9 15:41:50 gentoo sendmail-ob[21435]: h49Dfols021435: from=<te...@te...>, size=619, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<105...@te...>, proto=ESMTP, daemon=MTA, relay=localhost [127.0.0.1] May 9 15:41:51 gentoo sendmail-ob[21435]: h49Dfols021435: to=<te...@te...>, delay=00:00:01, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=openbottle_mailer, pri=30616, relay=openbottle_system, dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent ay 9 15:49:04 gentoo sendmail-ob[21530]: h49Dn4NZ021530: tes...@te...... This was actually the preferred mechanism. Whenever a vreq is answered = correctly, the "envelope from" address that sent the vreq answer is the one that get= s = added. The result is that the original email that is stuck in the pending queue = is never "flushed", as it's "envelope from" is still not whitelisted. The reason it is this way is that some emails originally come from a diff= erent email address than the ones that answer the vreq, this is typical of mail= ing = list type setups. The alternative is to allow a different address to validate the original = address, this was considered (at the time) to not be the proper behaviour. I will = have = to check my notes and see if there were some deeper issues here. Basically the only way for the email to be flushed from the pending queue= is to: a) send the answer from the same address as the original email. b) for the recipient to add the address to the whitelist manually. = > I have added also amavis support to openbottle, when you want i can wri= te a > howto if you want. Yes, this would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, gavin. |

Hi Gavin !! In the last time i have tested openbottle in more detail and I take a closer look to the code. I have found a bug in the Validation of the REPLY. When somebody answers to the verification reply with another emailaddress, the email address which he user for the reply will be add in the whitelist, but the mail will never come from the pending queue in the mailbox. I have added also amavis support to openbottle, when you want i can write a howto if you want. Perhaps you can help me with the problem i mentioned above. Can you help me: /usr/local/openbottle/bin/mailq is just a symlink to /usr/local/openbottle/bin/sendmail You need to tell sendmail which sendmail.cf to use (as this specifies whi= ch directories are used to store pending sendmail messages in). so try: /usr/local/openbottle/bin/mailq -C /usr/local/openbottle/etc/mail_in/send= mail.cf and /usr/local/openbottle/bin/mailq -C /usr/local/openbottle/etc/mail_out_sen= dmail.cf cheers, gavin. |

Hi Gavin !!
I have a problem to see the mailq in mqueue_out and mqueue_in. When i start
mailq or the mailq in the openbottle diretory i get the same output. which
shows me the mail queue from the original sendmial and not of the openbottle
system. Can you help me:
mailq output:
mailq
/var/spool/mqueue
mailq output in openbottle directory mqueue_out:
./mailq
/var/spool/mqueue
I can't see the mailq from openbottle.
Thank

In fact, it should really be a user option they could = set to make mail appear to come from their existing email address. Hi !!! I have setup a system with openbottle. I have followed your installation instructions and anything was find. The system is running but the local delivery after successfully verification isn't running. You said in the install_cyrus_imap to setup the delivery to the imap system. But at this time sendmail isn't compiled and running. Sendmail will be compiled and running at last with intsall_openbottle.sh. So I faund out, that mail_out makes the local delivery. Is the sendmail.cf ready for local delivery ?? Or should i run m4 cyrus2.mc > sendmail.cf. Please help me, that I will finish it and so I can include it to my diploma thesis. Is it possible to get openbottle_webmail this or next week, because I will present a full working open-source spamfilter in my diploma thesis. Please help me !!!
