Would you be interested in supporting also the .cfg format? This format is used by at least the following 2 programs I know about:
a) atomEye, an atomic config vier for large atomic configurations (http://mt.seas.upenn.edu/Archive/Graphics/A/#standard_CFG)
b) qstem, a popular TEM/STEM imge simulation code (http://www.christophtkoch.com/stem/index.html)
The file format is described on either one of these web pages (for qstem, the format is desribed here: http://www.christophtkoch.com/stem/index_formats.html)
With best regards,
Christoph Koch (koch@mf.mpg.de)
