#105 Multi-threading

I've been doing some performance testing of OpenBabel on large datasets
(2-4 million compounds) and whilst I had no problems it probably is
hitting the current limits. It is also apparent that the current and future
generation of machines a multi-core architecture will become more
common place. To take advantage of this we really need multi-threading.
Not a trivial request I know but could give significant performance gains.
