I wrote the mentioned OE article in 2005 and built nano, screen, gnu classpath and jamvm back then. There are two historical pictures of JamVM running on GNU Classpath: http://fsfe.org/en/fellows/robertschuster/images/gp2x_2006 If I find the time I will write a quick distro config which can compile application that are compatible to Open2x.
