The open-vm-tools project only provides source code. The source is roughly the
same for all platforms. The configure scripts take care of the differences.

What do you mean? The original source of the "normal" VMware Tools is also
roughly the same for all platforms. But you only get the binaries, which are
obviously platform-specific.

We don't distribute open-vm-tools binaries. You have to check with the distros
for that. I don't think Oracle has packaged o-v-t for Solaris 11, but you may be
lucky and find some package for OpenSolaris (not that I know of any).
