I like to put in a request for "Open Virtual Machine Tools for FreeBSD"

Why limit open-vm-tools to Linux?, why not port it to make it useable diretcly in BSD operating-systems such a FreeBSD.

The various userlevel components (guestd, vmware-user, toolbox, etc.)
should compile and run in FreeBSD as is (we tested them in FreeBSD 6 I
believe). We didn't get a chance to test other BSD-based operating systems,
although it appears that at least one other person is trying to do that
(see

We also have FreeBSD ports of the kernel modules available in binary form;
we're currently evaluating whether to release them in source form, and if
so, under what license. When a conclusion about that is reached, I'll
update this bug with more information.
