I honestly don't know, and I think a lot of is done by ear. So you'll call them and describe your problem, and if it's something to do with the guest they might ask you what version of Tools you're running, and then you'll tell them you're using the open-vm-tools, and they might try to help you anyway, or they may ask you to reproduce the problem with the ESX Tools installed, or reproduce the problem after uninstalling the open-vm-tools, etc. I think you'll be fine if you're willing to reproduce problems with the ESX Tools before calling support. And then, if you aren't able to reproduce the problem, file a bug here so we can see why the open-vm-tools might be responsible. |
