this is setup by your root environment. Normally in grub. There should be 
something comparable on your pxe environment if you use it.
default from redhat:
[root@mobilix-01 ~]# cat /proc/cmdline
ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet
sharedroot cluster:
[root@axqa03_1 ~]# cat /proc/cmdline
 root=/dev/vg_axqa03_sr/lv_sharedroot com-step com-debug
