This means whenever your rootdevice is either 8,ca (scsi) as major it will not start lvm (see hardware-lib.sh function lvm_check and linux.generic.sh:315). But if you want to introduce a new bootparameter like lvmsup or the like feel free to patch it and send over the patch. I'll be happy to apply it.
