One very nice feature would be to open a file by FTP.
I currently use UltraEdit for this very reason. I
generally write code that can run on Windoze, but I
have a farm of Unix/Linux boxes that I write bioperl
objects for. These machines have no Samba/mapping for
me to find, so I need to FTP them to Windows to have
any sort of functional editing capabilities.
Iregardless, there are features of bioperl that don't
work on windoze either. I would not expect to
run/debug them from the IDE, but the nice editing
features would rock. With that feature, you don't have
to port the IDE to other platforms just to allow code
editing. You would if you wanted to run and debug the
code on those systems, but hey, just editing would be
great. I am no vi expert, and won't ever become one.
Thanks for the great tool,
