I have compiled a kernel and modules for our distribution and tarballed them from root, with tar.gz. The install program at this point will have to tar xfz kernel.tar.gz to install. We could use RPM's but since the aim of Open-OS is to bring alot of new ideas and ways of doing things to the Linux OS, I'd be great to see what we can do about a custom package format. Any ideas are welcome!
Within the next couple of days, the entire kernel sources will be uploaded. We're currently using Linux 2.4.18 kernel. Our kernel developers will compile a kernel this week hopefully so we can get started building drivers and more of the core system.
