[Opalvoip-user] PDU Write failed: Input/output error

I'm trying to get SIP to work with T38modem. Currently, I'm getting the error "PDU Write failed: Input/output error" before it even sends a single IP Packet to the FOIP Gateway. 

I tracked the error message to sippdu.cxx, in opal which I suppose I could have guessed from the error message.  

Can someone give me an idea of what this error message means, and where I would need to look to figure out how to deal with it?
