#14 Font options in console pipe


This is a wish-list, but that's what the feature
request is for!

It would be nice (someday...) to have a way to change
fonts based on the actual screen size and font size.

Having swapped scalable fonts would be good in
situations where you have regular TV and HDTV
supported on the same console, or when you don't know
at design time what screen resolution the system will
run at; I could have more detail in fonts if I want.

It would also be cool to have an overlay system that
combines fonts, backgroround images, and borders, so
you could do text baloons, menus, position indicators,
etc., that is not based on the regular grid of the
console pipe, but a rectangle defining the area and an
optional rendered point to attach the box to. I'm
thinking along the lines of how Final Fantasy 7-9 have
done their text boxes. Another use for this is to
pinpoint objects and give their statisitcs, which is
useful for the present use of Opal.
