OPA-JAVA ADDED TO OPA STREAMS

OPA-JAVA, the Java port of OPA-CF, has been released in BETA version and added as
one of OPA code streams. The downloadable file has been added to the OPA 2.0 file release
on sourceforge.net. The files have also been put up on the Concurrent Version System (CVS)
on sourceforge.net. The CVS directory root is opa/opaJAVA.

The original port was completed in November 2003. Since then a number of bug fixes
have been completed and a number of new features added to the 'base' (OPA-CF 2.0).

New features:

A. Simple List Management now fully integrated.

These feature were either enhanced or added:

1. Ability to create mailing lists
2. Ability to add/delete members to mailing lists
3. Ability to send messages to mailing list
4. Ability to view messages to entire list or to selected members.

B. Ability to link to external Mailing List Managers.

For users who do not want to use the integrated mailing list features or
want to use them in addition to external Mailing List managers,
implementations on LINUX have been successfully linked to:

Dada Mail (GNU/GPL)
Mailman (GNU/GPL)
Majordomo (GNU/GPL)

Windows implementations are being tested.

C. Time Management

A time management module has been added. It gives reviewers the
ability to record time spent on reviews on a daily basis. It gives
coordinators the ability to review and approve timesheets submitted by
reviewers. (This module could be easily modified for project time
tracking).

D. Report Tracking made more explicit.

Report tracking and review has been made more explicit instead of being
totally embedded in Proposal Tracking in Review.

E. Developer Workshop

We also have developed workshop material for training developers,
systems administrators, and software engineers on the architecture of
OPA-JAVA and how to enhance or modify it.
