Hello everybody, I'm a student at the University of Economics in Vienna. For a seminar (with Prof. Rony Flatscher) in my specialisation "Management Information Systems" I have to write a seminarpaper about Mod_Rexx 2.0 and need your help. The paper is called "Mod_Rexx 2.0 for Dummies - A guide for installing, configuring and running Rexx on a Webserver" (at least at the moment) and should give people an overview an detailled starting point what acan be done in this area with Rexx and how. For this reason I'm looking for some help/input from your side: *) Could you point me to some (not so well known) ressources on the web? Doing a Google search I have been able to find some information but I'm looking forward for more esp. not so well known but very helpful details to get a better understanding of the whole thing. *) What kind of information do you expect in such a paper? Are there any topics which are a must from your point of view? Thanks in advance for your help. Greetings from Vienna, Robert -- |

There is a but, already fixed, in the Windows thread part of ooRexx that causes Mod_Rexx to crash. So you should probably stick to ooRexx 3.2 for your work. Second, I am working on Mod_ooRexx. This will be an Apache module for ooRexx 4.0 or later only. It works for Linux but the same bug as above causes it to crash under Windows. This code is in the ooRexx SVN incubator currently. It is MUCH faster than the old Mod_Rexx code. Code and RSP pages written for Mod_Rexx work unchanged in Mod_ooRexx. If you want to work with this code you will need to build your own Windows version of ooRexx from the SVN trunk. Actually, I consider the documentation for Mod_Rexx and Mod_ooRexx to be pretty good. But the weak are is examples. It needs a lot more of them and they need to be practical and useful but small enough in size for someone to comprehend easily. In fact, if your examples are good enough I will consider adding them to the SVN repository and the distribution. As to resources, if you are getting into the nuts and bolts of the C code then you should check out the book "The Apache Modules Book" by Nick Kew (Prentice Hall). As to web resources, there is actually very little out there other than what I have written on IBM developerWorks. If you find something please pass it back to me. And I will be happy to answer any questions you might have about Mod_Rexx and Mod_ooRexx. W. David Ashley ooRexx Team |

Hello David, Thank you for the information. So I will focus the seminarpaper on examples for using Mod_Rexx. It would be an honor for me if I can bring the examples to the level that they are good enough to be part of the distribution. I promise that I will work hard for it. Hallo Mark, I tried this today but it seems that there's a server problem. At least I got an "Internal Server Error" Anybody experiencing the same?
