Category: Classes Group: v4.1 >Status: Pending Resolution: Fixed Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: mdraggs (mdraggs) Assigned to: Rick McGuire (bigrixx) Summary: Possible memory leak in Stream Object Initial Comment: ooRexx 4.0.1 (Build 5/2/2010) on WinXP SP3 Should the memory usage for the following script continue to grow until hitting the 'PAUSE' or is this a memory leak? Do myJ = 1 to 100000 myStream = .Stream~New('c:\temp\test.txt') myStream~Open('Read') Say '>'myJ myStream~LineIn myStream~Close Drop myStream End Address Cmd 'PAUSE' Please note that I also posted this to 'Users' mailing list before noticing that this was the best method for support. Thanks, Mike Draggs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Rick McGuire (bigrixx) Date: 2010-10-05 09:29 Message: This fix will be included in the 4.1 release. Or you can checkout the code tree from svn and build a new one yourself. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: mdraggs (mdraggs) Date: 2010-10-05 09:21 Message: Please excuse my ignorance but what is the process for obtaining an updated build? Thanks, Mike ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Rick McGuire (bigrixx) Date: 2010-10-04 12:12 Message: Committed revision 6242. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Rick McGuire (bigrixx) Date: 2010-10-04 11:11 Message: I think I've located the memory leak and am working on a fix. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Mark Miesfeld (miesfeld) Date: 2010-10-04 11:03 Message: There does seem to be some problem here. If you watch the memory for rexx.exe in the Task manager as the program runs, you can see the memory used steadily increases until the loop ends. Uses about 200 MB on my system with myJ going to 100,000. If you set the loop to go to 1,000,000 it uses about 1.2 GB on my system. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=684730&aid=3080931&group_id=119701 |
