Category: None >Group: Windows Status: Open Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) >Assigned to: TheDavidFactor (darthapache) Summary: tracing and piping output to a file doesn't work Initial Comment: I am trying o use the trace command by redirecting the output to a file from a DOS prompt. I have trace R or ALL in the initial rexx pgm that I want to trace. I have a len.BAT file with: REXX VDRMVSLoadTest bluehillzos 7363 1 10 LEN > 1.txt to direct the trace output to a 1.txt file (I use this technique all the time with Quercus REXX). When I execute the BAT file I see the trace output flying by on the DOS screen but no trace output shows up in the file where it is useful to me. If I remove the > 1.txt from the BAT file so the command is simply: REXX VDRMVSLoadTest bluehillzos 7363 1 10 LEN and from the dos prompt execute: >len.bat > 1.txt I get the same result... no useful trace output in the 1.txt file. I am running windows xp/pro on a Dell optiplex machine with an Intel 3.2 ghz processor. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: TheDavidFactor (darthapache) Date: 2008-07-21 15:57 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1011368 Originator: NO trace out doesn't go to standard out, which is what ">" redirects. It does to standard error which can be redirected by this "2>" For more information on redirection view this link: http://www.ss64.com/ntsyntax/redirection.html NOTE: this link does not represent an endorsement by the ooRexx team or SourceForge. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=684731&aid=2023930&group_id=119701 |
