Two short and very simple programs to call REXX
dynamically. The programs can be used to call REXX
script by name under Windows 9x/ME/NT/2K/XP. Both
programs call REXX tokenized script (.CLS) having the
same name as the program has and located into the same
directory. Please see REXXCALL.HTM for a details. Code
of these programs based on the OOREXX sample programs
CALLRXWN.C and CALLRXNT.C, but I hope, CALLREXC and
CALLREXW are more useful.

Under Windows, note that a bit tweaking with the Explorer /
Tools / Options / File Types help you make that happen as
    well.
Just associate the .REX extension not with OOREXX.EXE but
with a rexxstarter.bat file that via an oorexx command
initiates a rexxstarter.rex script that in its turn
launches the script you just doubleclicked. Passing the
parameter of the script you intend to start is by
traditional %1 passing from the .BAT file.
In my own rexxstarter.rexx, I added some preprocessing like
asking for optional input of additional parameters and
    ooRexx version info.

Thank you for a comment! The mentioned technique is
applicable, but it has some disadvantages. IBM has a
web-page with article written by Robert A. Cruz "How can I
run a REXX program without typing REXX"? I can't find this
page at the moment on the IBM site due to dead link, but
fortunately I have a saved copy of this page and can attach
it here. This article describes 6 different solutions to
There are six approaches to running REXX programs without
having to type REXX. My solution is the 7th, it also has
some disadvantages - populate .exe :-). I though, the one
solution without disadvantages could be full REXX system
intergration, as implemented in OS/2 or PC DOS...

Rejected because this can be made to work under Windows via the associations.
