#908 4.0.1 Debian installer error


My sysadmin reports the following problem:

dpkg -i ooRexx-4.0.1.x86_64.rc1.deb

(Reading database ... 118943 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace oorexx 4.0.1-5792 (using ooRexx-4.0.1.x86_64.rc1.deb) ...
Removing any system startup links for /etc/init.d/rxapid ...
Unpacking replacement oorexx ...
Setting up oorexx (4.0.1-5792) ...
cp: cannot stat `/opt/ooRexx/bin/rxapid': No such file or directory
/var/lib/dpkg/info/oorexx.postinst: line 117: /etc/init.d/rxapid: No such file or directory
dpkg: error processing oorexx (--install):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 127

    It looks like you didn't uninstall the existing ooRexx, first.

    We don't support installing over the top of an existing ooRexx on any of the platforms. The read me file (0ReadMe.pdf included with the packages on SourceForge) goes to extra lengths to point this out

    You should install this way:

    dpkg -P ooRexx

    dpkg -i ooRexx-4.0.1.x86_64.rc1.deb

    Steve, if you still have problems after uninstalling an existing ooRexx and then installing 4.0.1, let us know.
