Two new tools now available on OpenOffice.org Macros make it easy to inspect the OpenOffice.org object hierarchy, and distribute macros as add-ons. They should be of interest to anyone that
develops macros for OpenOffice.org.
X-Ray is a tool that allows a developer to inspect the OpenOffice.org object hierarchy, using an interactive interface. It can display the properties, methods, services and interfaces provided by
an object. If the property or method being examined is an API object, it can also be analysed by X-Ray. If it is a simple variable, the value will be displayed. If the SDK is installed, X-Ray can
display the relevant page in a web browser.
Add-On Tool is likely to be useful for anyone that wishes to distribute their macro as an add-on. It explains how to create and install OpenOffice.org add-ons, and includes an interactive tool
(written in OOo Basic) that creates the xcu file required. The xcu file is complex, and difficult to write by hand, so this tool makes the creation of add-ons much simpler.
